Gujiya is made of two main components: a crispy outer crust made from all-purpose flour (maida), oil, and water, and a rich, sweet filling typically containing roasted khoya (mawa), sugar, cardamom powder, and nuts like almonds, cashews, and pistachios. The filling can also include desiccated coconut, semolina, or raisins, and the fried pastry is sometimes coated in a sugar syrup for extra sweetness and sheen.
